The Cardiovascular Laboratory at Community Howard Regional Health System has received accreditation by the Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Vascular Laboratories (ICAVL). Community Howard is one of three hospitals in Indiana to be granted this Vascular as well as Echo accreditation.
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the United States. Stroke, a disorder of the blood vessels to the brain, is the third leading cause of death and disability in this country. Each year, 2 million people develop deep vein thrombosis blood clots in the veins. Although life threatening if undetected, early detection of these vascular diseases is possible through the use of noninvasive vascular testing techniques performed in Community Howard Regional's Vascular Lab.
Not everyone who performs ultrasound studies is qualified to do so. But at Community Howard Regional Health System, our sonographers are certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARMDS) or board eligible for this certification. In order to receive this certification, each has fulfilled educational requirements, has appropriate hands-on experience and has passed rigorous examinations. Cardiac and vascular ultrasound are rapidly changing and highly technical fields. Our ARDMS Registered Sonographers stay current, meeting continuing competency requirements in order to provide high quality diagnostic ultrasound. If your doctor requires you or a member of your family to have an ultrasound, have it performed at Community Howard Regional Health System where you can be sure your sonographer is registered. The quality of your doctor's diagnosis may depend on it.
We are dedicated to making your testing experience a pleasant one. For more information, please call us at 765-453-8333.
